So we just realized that it’s been over six months since our last Downtown Raleigh Web Run. We apologize for the long delay between posts, but it has been a crazy 2014 (in a good way.) We hope to make this a regular feature on our blog, so, please, feel free to share these features with your friends!
WRAL: McCrory to light state Christmas tree Thursday evening: Call us sentimental, but this is one of our favorite Christmas events in Downtown Raleigh. Just be sure to stay warm.
N&O: NC Gov Jim Martin brought progress to state: We had no idea that Jim Martin had a Ph.D. in chemistry from Princeton. He also possesses a keen sense of humor (as evidenced in the 1986 “Under the Dome” to the right.)
TBJ: Red Hat, Citrix call inaugural Raleigh accelerator a ‘success’: Raleigh is a city with an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. We were named the Best Place for Business and Careers in 2014 by Forbes Magazine, and boast an educated populace. The mere presence of CITRIX in the Warehouse District has completely turned the tide for that part of downtown Raleigh’s development, and Red Hat filled in a huge gap left behind by Duke Energy. Now they’re starting to fund local start-ups. These are two savvy companies, and their arrival is the most significant thing that’s happened to downtown Raleigh since we re-opened Fayetteville Street.
INDY: North Carolina Museum of Art reveals plans for major renovations: Not DTR related, but exciting nonetheless. I’m a huge fan of the NCMA, and we held our wedding reception there in 2007. They also have the most challenging greenway trails in the entire Greenway System. It’s a perfect example of something that does not need to be downtown; they truly need room to grow. Cannot wait to see how it all plays out.
